Super E
Teaching the long vowels to early elementary students is when students leave the world of CVC words where words can be sounded out naturally using what we've learned about the phonetic properties of each letter. When vowel sounds in the middle of a word are affected by the final "e" on the word, like in gate.
We used Super E to talk about the effect that final E could have on the pronunciation of a word and to discuss long and short vowel sounds.
