Firecracker Phonics
Firecracker Phonics is an unpublished book for kindergarten age students who are learning to identify letters, write, and read C-V-C words. The book features an assessment plan for the child's success reading, writing, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills.
The Firecracker metaphor comes from one exercise in the book where the students explode up off the floor for "pop" sounds or whither to the ground for "hiss" sounds. The book features routines for five to ten minute phonics lessons for two years as students progress from beginning level to reading simple words.
