Product Knowledge Guidebook
Overview
This guidebook to Mission Fed’s products and services was printed out and given to each employee. With this project, the training department took over the responsibility of updating all the product information. Centralizing the effort meant coordinating with SME’s (subject matter experts) from the different departments, then distributing the books throughout the organization.
Implementation
Each book had about 50 pages of stiff #32 card stock with full bleeds. Each department has a different color scheme for their products and services. They were handed out to all 450 employees in the organization. It’s been an interesting project. It never ends. Minor changes come out several times each year, which means the beautiful, printed guides had to be manually updated in pen or with sticker labels. It’s a shame that it’s been so tough to maintain. We sent out emails and stickers. Hopefully each of the 23 branches are diligently updating them… (finger’s crossed)
We’ve just decided to move the info to an online wiki. Updates in wiki are easier than working through InDesign. I used to do updates in InDesign, then publish to .pdf, and open in Acrobat to bookmark and index the pages. Web updates in the browser are so much faster.
